Grocery Store Fishing! 7-20-11

You know how people say not to go grocery shopping when your hungry? The same rule applies to fishing in my case! Summertime offers a lot of different species to target, most of which make great table fare. We started the day off in the backwaters working mangrove shorelines for Redfish.  We scored big with nonstop action of slot sized Reds.

Although Redfish are quite tasty, we still believe conservation is key and we limit ourselves on what we keep.  We moved out   Read More

Summer fishing as hot as the weather!

It’s been awhile since our last report, fortunately due in part to long days of great fishing.  The fishing has been great and as we transition from spring to summer patterns,  you never know what kind of action you’ll encounter.  Tarpon are still roaming the Bay, Snook are really active along the beaches and passes, the Redfish bite has been great, and the offshore fishing has been on fire!

Last Sunday I had the pleasure of fishing with Jim Denison , his son Ryan and father in law Russ.  It was set to be a great fishing day with great weather to boot!  Ryan started of the day by landing the first two fish and proceeded to leave everyone in his dust.  It is not often I see a 7 yr. old outfish everyone else, but he continued to put on a fishing clinic till the boat reached the dock.   The fishing was steady all day with Redfish, Trout, Flounder, Read More

Big Trout for the Big Boys!

Last Saturday I had the privilege of fishing with Ex Buccaneer Lineman Jason Maniecki and the new Defensive Line coach, Grady Stretz. From the time the first fish reached the boat it was on.  Jason started off strong, but by the end of the day it was too close to call.

Light Tackle Black Drumming!

Well, it’s that time of year again, the black drum are moving in to Tampa bay to spawn. I don’t know if it’s just been a while since I’ve seen these fish, but they look bigger than ever this year. We have been getting these monsters to eat on every trip, and we’re getting them to the boat on trout tackle which is a real thrill if you’ve never tried it. We have spent a good part of our fishing time over the past few weeks fishing for these bruisers, and are looking forward to them hanging around for us to enjoy for another month or so. Read More
